Interested in writing for Parkville Station? Want your words to be in ink, read by thousands of students each week? Just feel like mashing your keyboard for a little while? We’re always looking to put more voices into Parkville Station (well, we’re looking all of semester) and we’d love you have you write for us. We accept contributions from University of Melbourne students, staff, and others in the University community.

Something short

Letters. If you’re angry about something, have an opinion, or just don’t have much time, send a letter to the editor, We select the best letters to publish each week.

Texts. If you have even less time (or are so riled you don’t think you can hold yourself together for more than 160 characters), you can also send us a text: 04 02 084 468 (standard SMS charges apply).

Photos. If you’ve taken a cool photo of something happening around campus, email it to or MMS it to 04 02 084 468 for inclusion in Out & About.

Something a bit longer

We’re looking for writers, illustrators and photographers to contribute content throughout semester. We’re pretty liberal about what we’ll consider publishing, but content of particular interest to us includes:

  • News pieces, about the University and the city of Melbourne
  • Opinion pieces, particularly about what’s happening on campus
  • Guides relevant to UniMelb students
  • Photojournalism
  • Cartoons
  • Reviews

Regular contributors

If you’re interested in being a regular contributor to Parkville Station, is the email address for you. We’re particularly looking for people interested in regularly writing campus news for the paper.
