Parkville Station

About

Parkville Station was a free, weekly newspaper for students at the University of Melbourne Parkville campus. Throughout 2016, it published on Monday, every week of semester, starting with O-Week (which, of course, started on a Tuesday…).

The newspaper was chock full of news, reviews, event listings, useful guides, and other content that brightened students’ days.

The distribution team handed out copies all over campus on Monday and Tuesday. We also had a fixed distribution network around campus.

Who’s behind this?

Parkville Station was founded and run by Liz Peak and Patrick Clearwater.

Liz did a Bachelor of Arts with Diploma of Languages, and a Master of International Relations at the University of Melbourne. She was a Director of the University of Melbourne Student Union’s VCE Summer School in 2015 and 2016. As well as running Parkville Station, she has also worked as a research assistant at the University.

Patrick is an (excessively) proud holder of a Bachelor of Science with Diploma of Mathematical Sciences and a Master of Science from the University of Melbourne. He was a Director of the University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU)’s VCE Summer School in 2012 and 2013; was on the UMSU Clubs & Societies Committee in 2011, 2012 and 2013; was on the UMSU Students’ Council in 2012 and 2013; held an elected position on the Board of MU Student Union Ltd in 2012 and 2013; and was a Graduate Students Association Councillor.
