Graduate Student Association election season

It’s election season for the Graduate Student Association (GSA). All graduate students are entitled to run for election and to vote — so if you’re a graduate student, you will have received a letter from the GSA exhorting you to vote and with information about how to run for election.

The GSA is run by a Council composed of fifteen graduate students. Eight of those positions are up for election in this round. Following the election, the GSA Council then selects its officebearers (including its President) in an internal election from amongst its number.

The Graduate Student Association is the peak representative body for graduate students on campus, responsible for advocating graduate student issues to the University, funding graduate groups, running short courses and various similar activities. It is nestled in the 1888 Building on the south end of campus, and received $1.8mln from the University’s Student Services and Amenities Funding (SSAF) revenue in 2015.

Nominations for the election close at 10am this Friday, 8th April.
